Tragedy in Roseville: Pedestrian & Bicyclist Killed Near I-80 Ramp

A series of tragic incidents near the Interstate 80 onramp at Riverside Avenue in Roseville and Citrus Heights have left the community reeling. Recent reports detail a deadly crash involving a pedestrian and a separate collision where a bicyclist lost their life.

Pedestrian Fatality on I-80 Onramp

On Tuesday morning, Roseville police responded to a fatal incident on the southbound Riverside Avenue onramp to I-80. A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle shortly before 11 a.m. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. Police confirmed the driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. The roadway was temporarily closed while authorities conducted their investigation.

Bicyclist Killed in Citrus Heights Collision

Adding to the sorrow, a 60-year-old man from Roseville was killed on Tuesday morning after being struck by a vehicle while riding his bicycle across a crosswalk near the I-80 Riverside onramp, just outside of Citrus Heights. According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the incident occurred around 10:44 a.m. The bicyclist was hit by a silver 2021 Toyota Camry driven by a 55-year-old man from Citrus Heights. The bicyclist sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Ongoing Investigations

Both incidents are currently under investigation by law enforcement. In the case of the bicyclist fatality, CHP is investigating whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash. Authorities are urging anyone with information regarding either incident to come forward.
