The iconic Kingfisher Villa in Goa, once synonymous with Vijay Mallya's lavish parties and high-flying lifestyle, has a new owner and a new name: King's Mansion. Bollywood actor Sachiin Joshi and his wife, former actress Urvashi Sharma, now own the sprawling estate, which was auctioned off in 2017 following Mallya's bank fraud scandal.
The ₹73 crore property, located on Candolim beach, was at the center of Mallya's glamorous image. Known as the "King of Good Times," Mallya's empire crumbled after allegations of a ₹900 crore loan default involving IDBI Bank. In 2016, he fled to the UK, leaving behind legal battles and the Kingfisher Villa.
The Auction and a New Beginning
Owned by United Breweries Holdings, the villa was seized by a consortium of banks led by the State Bank of India to recover Mallya's dues. After three unsuccessful auctions, Sachiin Joshi acquired the property in 2017, marking a new chapter for the estate.
Royal Challengers Bangalore and Renewed Interest
Interest in Mallya and his former assets, including Kingfisher Villa, resurfaced recently. As congratulatory messages poured in regarding the Royal Challengers Bangalore victory in the IPL, curious eyes turned back to symbols of his bygone empire. The villa's transition from a symbol of extravagance to a family home marks a significant shift.
