LCK Shake-Up: New Agents Certified! Faker's Family Among Them!

The League of Legends Champions Korea (LCK) is getting a fresh wave of representation! The Korea e-Sports Association (KeSPA) has officially announced the certification of 31 agents for the 2025-2026 cycle, marking a significant step in the professionalization of esports in South Korea.

What's New with LCK Agents?

The LCK Certified Agent program, established in 2022, aims to ensure fair contract negotiations and protect the rights of League of Legends players. This year's certification process was more rigorous than ever, featuring a two-stage process: a qualifications review followed by a comprehensive certification exam.

Key Changes in the Agent Certification Process

  • Two-Step Process: Candidates underwent a qualifications review in May and a written exam in August.
  • Comprehensive Exam: The exam covered essential knowledge in areas like contract law, sports ethics, and LCK regulations.
  • Higher Standards: Only 20 out of 48 applicants passed the exam, resulting in a 42% pass rate.

Family Ties: Star Players' Relatives Join the Ranks

Among the 31 certified agents, five are close relatives of prominent LCK players, including family members of:

  • Ko “SIRIUSS” Kun (Gen.G Global Academy)
  • Kim “Canyon” Geon-bu (Gen.G Esports)
  • Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok (T1)
  • Lee “Gumayusi” Min-hyung (T1)
  • Jeong “Chovy” Ji-hoon (Gen.G Esports)

This adds an interesting dynamic to the LCK landscape, potentially influencing contract negotiations and player representation.

Increased Oversight and Accountability

KeSPA has also launched the LCK Certified Agent Misconduct Reporting Center to address unethical practices and ensure transparency. This initiative aims to strengthen the integrity of the LCK and protect players from exploitation.

The new regulations and increased oversight promise a more professional and equitable environment for League of Legends esports in South Korea. The LCK continues to evolve, prioritizing player welfare and fair competition.
