Broncos Scoop Up Ex-Cowboy! Deuce Vaughn Signs - What Does It Mean?

Broncos Add Deuce Vaughn to Practice Squad

The Denver Broncos have bolstered their running back depth by signing Deuce Vaughn to their practice squad. The move, announced Tuesday, brings the former Dallas Cowboy to Denver after he was released during the Cowboys' final roster cuts.

Vaughn, a sixth-round pick in the 2023 NFL draft, quickly became a fan favorite in Dallas. However, he struggled to find consistent playing time and was ultimately let go. Now, he gets a fresh start with the Broncos.

Vaughn's NFL Career So Far

In his 14 career games with the Cowboys, Vaughn rushed 40 times for 110 yards and added 58 yards on 10 receptions. While his regular-season production was limited, he showed flashes of potential during the preseason. In the 2025 preseason, he rushed 17 times for 64 yards.

College Star at Kansas State

Before entering the NFL, Vaughn was a standout running back at Kansas State University. He rushed for over 1,400 yards in both his final two college seasons and scored a total of 34 touchdowns during that period. His impressive college career led to him being drafted by the Cowboys, where his father, Chris Vaughn, is a scout.

Opportunity in Denver

At 5-foot-6 and 176 pounds, Vaughn is an undersized but explosive player. He joins the Broncos' practice squad, filling an open spot created when quarterback Sam Ehlinger was promoted to the active roster. With his versatility and potential, Vaughn could earn an opportunity to contribute to the Broncos' offense.

The Broncos will be hoping that Sean Payton can unlock the potential that saw the Cowboys draft Vaughn. It remains to be seen if Vaughn can carve out a role for himself in Denver, but this is a great opportunity for the young player.
