Oscar winner Jessica Chastain is set to star in a new mystery thriller for Netflix titled 'Heartland'. The film, directed and co-written by Shana Feste, known for her work on 'Country Strong' and 'Run Sweetheart Run', will also feature Oscar-nominee John Hawkes and country singer Carter Faith.

Filming for 'Heartland' is scheduled to begin at the end of September in Atlanta, Georgia, and Nashville, Tennessee. The production is a collaboration between Chernin Entertainment and Sandbox Entertainment.

What is 'Heartland' About?

Chastain will play Misty Jones, a former country star who reluctantly emerges from seclusion to investigate the disappearance of her niece, a rising young musician played by Carter Faith. As Misty delves deeper into the investigation, she uncovers a world of secrets and confronts her own past traumas.

John Hawkes' Role Remains a Mystery

While Chastain and Faith's roles are defined, the details surrounding John Hawkes' character are currently under wraps, adding another layer of intrigue to the project.

The producing team includes Peter Chernin and Jenno Topping for Chernin Entertainment, Jason Owen for Sandbox Entertainment, Randall Poster, and Tracy Cook. Jeff Valeri is serving as line producer, with Jason Graham on board as production manager. Casting is being overseen by Richard Hicks.

This project follows a busy year for Jessica Chastain, who recently received her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and is headlining Apple TV+'s limited series 'The Savant'. 'Heartland' promises to be another captivating performance from the acclaimed actress.
