Rainbow Wahine Victory! UH Volleyball Breaks Losing Streak!

HONOLULU, HI - The University of Hawai'i Rainbow Wahine women's volleyball team finally clinched a victory, sweeping Utah Valley in the OUTRIGGER Invitational at the Stan Sheriff Center. After a challenging start to the season with four losses, including two heartbreakers that went to five sets, the Rainbow Wahine (1-4) secured their first win in a decisive manner, with set scores of 27-25, 25-20, and 25-17.

Career Night for Adeyemi

UH outside hitter Stella Adeyemi had a standout performance, achieving a career-high of 17 kills in 30 attempts, boasting an impressive .433 hitting percentage. She also contributed two aces against the Wolverines (3-3), who previously swept their first two tournament opponents.

Freshman Reid Continues to Impress

Freshman outside hitter Cha'lei Reid, fresh off a 26-kill performance against San Jose State, added another 15 kills while hitting .312. Reid also contributed two of UH's eight aces. The pin hitters sealed the victory, with Reid hammering three consecutive kills to conclude the match.

Key Stats and Performances

Setter Adrianna Arquette distributed 34 assists, leading an offense that achieved a season-high .330 hitting percentage. Middle blocker Bri Gunderson made nine blocks, including two solo blocks, and added three kills and an ace. Tyla Reese Mane also provided a spark with four kills in nine attempts, four blocks, and two aces.

Looking Ahead

UH Head Coach Robyn Ah Mow is looking for her team to continue to improve and make adjustments as the season progresses. The Rainbow Wahine will look to build on this victory and continue their momentum throughout the tournament.
