LAPD Seeks Driver in Fatal South LA Hit-and-Run: $50,000 Reward Offered

The Los Angeles Police Department is urgently seeking the public's assistance in locating the driver responsible for a deadly hit-and-run that occurred earlier this summer in South Los Angeles. Detectives have identified the suspected driver as 24-year-old Cierra Danae Whitaker and are offering a $50,000 reward for information leading to her arrest.

The incident occurred on July 5th when a white Porsche Panamera, allegedly driven by Whitaker, collided with another vehicle at high speed. The victim, 25-year-old Emerson Noel Escobar Gonzalez, was tragically killed instantly. Police estimate the Porsche was traveling at just under 100 mph in a 35 mph zone on Figueroa Street.

According to police reports, Gonzalez was stopped at a stop sign, waiting for an emergency vehicle to pass. As he proceeded into the intersection, the Porsche struck his car with devastating force. Shockingly, witnesses filmed individuals exiting the Porsche, removing items from the vehicle, and then fleeing the scene on foot.

"It's kind of sad when you see this video because we believe Emerson was killed instantly, and there was zero concern at all for this guy," said LAPD Detective Ryan Moreno. The detective further noted that the suspect driver became confrontational with bystanders who urged them to stay at the scene.

Investigators believe Whitaker is known to people in the Los Angeles area, Orange County, and Las Vegas. The LAPD is urging anyone with information about her whereabouts to come forward immediately. Tipsters can remain anonymous.
