Delta Airlines Cuts Routes! Is Your Flight Affected?

Delta Airlines Announces Route Cuts: Here's What You Need to Know

Delta Airlines is making significant adjustments to its domestic network, impacting routes in Texas and California. The airline cites these changes as part of an ongoing effort to align its schedule with current demand trends. Are you affected?

One of the most notable changes is the discontinuation of service between Austin (AUS) and Midland (MAF), Texas, effective November 9, 2025. This marks a complete station exit for Delta, as Midland is not served from any of the airline's other hubs. Service on this route began last year.

"Delta will discontinue its Austin–Midland (AUS–MAF) route effective Nov. 9, 2025, as we adapt our schedule to align with consumer demand,” a Delta spokesperson stated. “We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and remain committed to serving Central Texas as the leading global carrier in Austin.”

In addition to the Midland suspension, Delta will also cease flights between Las Vegas (LAS) and two Northern California airports: San José (SJC) and Sacramento (SMF). These routes will be terminated in January, according to Cirium Diio schedule data.

Good News for Austin Travelers

While some routes are being cut, Delta is also expanding its service from Austin. The airline is adding flights from Austin to Denver (DEN), Columbus (CMH), and Kansas City (MCI), while also increasing frequencies to San Francisco (SFO) and Indianapolis (IND). Service between Austin and McAllen (MFE) will continue as part of the carrier’s South Texas network.

  • Route Cuts: Austin to Midland (effective Nov 9, 2025), Las Vegas to San Jose (January), Las Vegas to Sacramento (January)
  • Route Additions/Increases: Austin to Denver, Columbus, Kansas City, San Francisco, Indianapolis
