Ky Football Game Shooting: Teen Arrested! Victim Stable!

A 14-year-old male from Fulton, Kentucky, has been arrested in connection with the shooting that occurred near the Mayfield-Graves County high school football game on Friday night. According to Mayfield Police Chief Nathan Kent, the juvenile is being held at a juvenile detention center and faces charges of first-degree assault.

The victim, identified as 18-year-old Jordan Riley of Farmington, Kentucky, sustained gunshot wounds to his arm and upper torso. He was airlifted to a hospital out of state and is currently in stable condition.

Investigators determined that the shooting occurred after a fight between Riley and another juvenile in the parking lot adjacent to War Memorial Stadium. The incident took place during the fourth quarter of the "Battle of the Birds" game between Graves County and Mayfield. The game was suspended following the gunshots, with Mayfield leading 40-7. The Kentucky High School Athletic Association (KHSAA) has confirmed that the score at the time of suspension will stand as the final result.

The Mayfield Police Department was assisted by the Kentucky State Police, the Graves County Sheriff's Office, Mayfield EMS, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms in responding to the incident.

Counselors were made available Saturday at Mayfield High School to support students, staff, and community members affected by the shooting. All Mayfield school activities were cancelled for the weekend.

Mayfield Mayor Kathy S. O’Nan released a statement emphasizing the community's strength and unity in the face of adversity. She commended the immediate actions of first responders, coaches, and school staff.

Several law enforcement agencies have expressed their support for the Mayfield-Graves County community on social media. The investigation is ongoing.
