Boeing SOARS? 500 Jet Deal with China Could Change Everything!

Boeing Eyes Massive Deal with China: Up to 500 Jets!

Boeing [NYSE: BA] is reportedly in discussions to sell up to 500 aircraft to China, according to Bloomberg News. This potential deal could be a game-changer for the U.S. planemaker, marking China's first major Boeing jet purchase since the Trump era.

Sources familiar with the matter indicate that negotiations are underway regarding specific jet models, quantities, and delivery schedules. This massive order could be a key element in a broader trade agreement between the world's two largest economies.

Shares of Boeing experienced a surge of 2% in pre-market trading following the news. A successful deal would provide a significant boost to Boeing's position in China, the world's second-largest aviation market, where orders have been hampered by ongoing trade tensions between the U.S. and China.

This potential sale is particularly important for Boeing as it seeks to close the gap with its rival Airbus, which has gained considerable ground in the Chinese market in recent years. Chinese officials are reportedly consulting with domestic airlines to assess their requirements for Boeing aircraft.

While Boeing declined to comment on the reports, the deal would represent a thawing of trade tensions. Jet purchases have often been a feature of diplomatic visits and trade negotiations. A similar agreement was attempted in 2023 by President Biden and President Xi but did not materialize. It would also be a major win for Boeing CEO Kelly Ortberg.

Earlier this year, Boeing secured substantial orders during President Trump's visit to the Middle East, including a $96 billion agreement with Qatar Airways for 160 widebody jets (plus options for 50 more) and GE Aerospace engines. AviLease, a Saudi Arabian lessor, also placed an order for 20 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, with options for 10 more.
