The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) don announce say, starting from August 1, 2025, dem go stop to dey give out vehicle aluminium number plates for Ghana ein ports of entry. Dem go replace am with a fully digital sticker-based system wey dem dey call Drive from Port (DP) number.
This new system, wey dem do pilot testing give am already for Tema and Takoradi ports, be change for DVLA ein operations. E be part of how dem wan modernize service delivery, make security strong, and make things dey go faster.
According to statement wey the Authority give out, this thing go affect all vehicles wey dem import enter the country. E mean say the old way of giving temporary metal plates for the ports be over.
As part of the new arrangement, DVLA don join body with State Insurance Company (SIC) to make sure say all vehicles wey dey leave the ports get insurance. This one go help people follow road safety and insurance rules.
Officials dey talk say the new digital sticker system go make clearance for ports dey go smooth, e go reduce fraud, and e go make vehicle registration dey traceable and accountable.
The Authority dey beg importers, freight forwarders, clearing agents, and the public to work with the new system so everything go go well.
