A Singaporean investor dey claim say he give $1.5 million to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) thru Emmanuel Nii Ashie-Moore, wey be the party's Greater Accra Regional Chairman. According to the investor, Toh You Kang, he say the money be for the 2024 election campaign.
Mr. Kang dey claim say dem use the money print campaign materials like T-shirts, wristbands, caps, and booklets wey dey promote the NDC's “24-hour economy” policy. He talk say Ashie-Moore advise am to donate the money as a strategic investment so he go fit enter Ghana electricity cable market smoothly.
The claims dey inside affidavit wey dey support human rights lawsuit wey Mr. Kang file for High Court for Accra. He dey seek GH¢20 million (approximately $1.6 million) as compensation. He dey claim say dem detain am unlawfully, assault am, and deny am legal representation when he visit Ghana for May 2025.
