New Relaxation Lounge for Student Union
The new lounge na small part of bigger plan to revamp the Student Union. The Student Union na important place for students for Boca Raton campus, so dis makeover go make am even better place to chill and connect.
Theatre Lab Move to New Home after 10 Years
After 10 years for campus, Theatre Lab, the resident theatre company for FAU, dey move to new home! Since 2015, Theatre Lab don stage over 30 full productions and 100 developmental readings of new plays. Plenty playwrights like Deborah Zoe Laufer, Lauren Gunderson, and Steven Dietz don benefit from Theatre Lab.
The Old Space and The Challenges
Before, Theatre Lab dey inside unused dining space for Parliament Hall, wey be dormitory for FAU students. The lobby bin be Simply Puur before, and the theatre itself bin be Red Mango frozen yogurt stand! Artistic Director Matt Stabile talk say the old space bin get plenty challenges. E no be acoustically built for theatre, so actors had to project well well. Audience members sef had to waka in front of the stage to use restroom. The actors bin dey share communal dressing room wey dem convert from storage closet.
Better Future for Theatre Lab
Even with all the challenges, Theatre Lab artists bin dey push on. Now, with the new home, dem go get better space and facilities to continue to nurture new plays and talent. Dis na big win for the theatre company and the FAU community!
