Netflix is set to launch its new talent competition series, 'Building The Band,' on July 9th. The show features a unique blend of 'The Voice' and 'Love Is Blind,' where singers compete to form a band without ever seeing each other until they perform live.
Adding a poignant element, the series will include the late Liam Payne as a guest judge. The former One Direction star tragically passed away in October 2024. Despite the initial uncertainty following his death, Payne's family and the show's producers have decided to include his appearances in the series. Netflix confirmed this decision, stating that Payne's family reviewed the series and supported his inclusion.
'Building The Band': A Unique Singing Competition
'Building The Band' brings a fresh twist to the singing competition format. Contestants are isolated in separate booths during auditions, allowing them to choose bandmates solely based on vocal talent. If they like what they hear, they press a button to signal their interest. This element mirrors the blind auditions of 'The Voice'.
The 'Love Is Blind' aspect comes into play as the contestants don't meet face-to-face until the band is fully formed and ready to perform. This adds a layer of intrigue and challenges the singers to connect and collaborate effectively.
Release Schedule
The 10 episodes of 'Building The Band' will be released in three parts:
- Week 1 (July 9): Episodes 1-4
- Week 2 (July 16): Episodes 5-7
- Week 3 (July 23): Episodes 8-10
Hosted by AJ McLean of the Backstreet Boys, with Nicole Scherzinger (The Pussycat Dolls) as a mentor-judge and Kelly Rowland (Destiny's Child) also guest judging, 'Building The Band' promises to be an exciting and emotional ride for viewers.
