Bank of Ghana (BoG) dey prepare to celebrate 60 years since dem introduce Ghana Cedi on Tuesday, October 28, 2025. Dem go do plenty tins to show how important Cedi be to Ghana economy.
Part of the celebration be say, dem go launch am for Accra International Conference Centre, and President John Mahama go be the Special Guest of Honour. E no be small tin o!
Apart from the main celebration, dem go do Cedi Van Regional Roadshow, exhibitions, plus education wey dem go carry go different places. Dem go teach people how to handle money well, how to spot fake money, and the history of our money since we get independence. E dey important make we know our currency well!
Bank of Ghana go still organize conference wey central banks from all over the world go come, plus people from schools and private companies. E go be big meeting wey dem go discuss money matters.
BoG talk say, “The Cedi@60 anniversary be chance for us to remember how far we don come in 60 years of having our own money. We go talk to the public about the history and future of the Cedi, and make people proud of Ghana financial and cultural identity. E be time to teach people about money policies, push our Clean Note Campaign, and inspire the young ones to protect the Cedi.”
Ghana start use Cedi as our national currency on July 19, 1965. E show say we be independent for economy and say we don move from colonial rule. Since then, dem don change Cedi plenty times, redesign am, and change the rules wey dey guide am. E be money wey we dey use and e be symbol of how we dey stand strong, dey determine our own future, and dey move forward as a nation.
