Prof Vera Fiador Becomes First Female UTAG National President!

Eiii Ghana! Big news dey come from University of Ghana. Professor Vera Fiador, a senior lecturer for the University of Ghana Business School, be chop de top position as de National President of de University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG). Dem elect am for de 22nd Biennial Congress wey happen for Aburi.

Na she no be de only one wey chop position o! Reverend Dr. Ebenezer T. Amanor-Lartey be de Vice President, Professor Gladys A.A. Nabieu be de Treasurer, Dr. Samuel Segla be de Secretary, and Dr. Rosemary Anderson Akolaa be de Women’s Commissioner. All of dem go work for two years, according to UTAG ein rules.

De whole Congress dey talk about how higher education go be for dis AI age. Dem dey think about ethics, equity, and how e go affect Ghana ein development. De theme be: “Rethinking Higher Education Pedagogy and Funding in the Age of AI: Ethics, Equity and Development Impact”.

Professor Fiador, after dem elect am, thank all de members for believing in her and de new executives. She promise say she go work hard with everybody so say teachers go get better conditions of service. She also talk say UTAG go continue to help Ghana produce students wey go fit help de country develop.

She stress say research wey dey use data dey important, so say e go help government make better decisions. She say dem for use research findings so say things go be better. “We dey look forward to working collectively with stakeholders to transform research into impactful results,” she talk.

Professor Fiador dey call for better funding for universities so say dem go fit do demma work well. She also talk say she want make university and industry dey work together more, so say students go get de skills wey industry need, and e go help Ghana ein economy.
