Ghana, get ready to hear about another amazing feat from our Naija sister! Hilda Baci, the chef who captured hearts with her record-breaking cooking marathon, is back at it again. This time, she's aiming to cook the world's largest pot of jollof rice, a dish we all know and love!
Giant Jollof, Giant Effort
Thousands of people gathered in Lagos to witness this incredible attempt. Baci's team used a custom-made pot that can hold a whopping 23,000 litres! Imagine the amount of jollof that can make!
What went into this massive meal?
- 4,000kg (8,800lb) of rice
- 500 cartons of tomato paste
- 600kg of onions
That's a lot of ingredients! It took a team of 300 people two whole months just to build the giant steel pot. Baci even used giant spatulas to stir the massive dish.
Why Jollof?
Baci, who already holds the record for the longest cooking marathon (an impressive 93 hours and 11 minutes!), explained her choice, saying, "We are the giant of Africa, and jollof is a food that everybody knows Africans for. It would make sense if we had the biggest pot of jollof rice, it would be nice for the country."
After hours of cooking, the giant jollof was distributed to the crowd. Now, the evidence is with Guinness World Records for validation. We dey wait patiently to hear the official confirmation!
Big ups to Hilda Baci for showcasing our African cuisine and pushing the boundaries of what's possible! We dey root for you!
